The single-hall Lucerna Cinema boasts a long-standing tradition as the first permanent cinema in Bohemia (1909) and in 1929 started to play the first acoustic movie, Universal Film’s ‘Show Boat’. The first Czech talkie screened here was ‘Obrácení Ferdyše Pištory’ (‘The Turning of Ferdyš Pištora’) in 1931.

The cinema is still operating today and it is one of the most prestigious cinemas in Prague with an original interior, offering the public a wide range of film genres, a unique programme of art-house, independent and classic films, and hosting special events like film festivals and film premieres.
