Lucerna Grand Hall Lucerna – Prague’s first multipurpose complex from the beginning of the 20th century - is one of the best-known of Prague's cultural 'palaces'. The Grand Hall was the final part of the project (the tract leading into Štěpánská Street) and was completed in 1921. It hosts gigs of popular Czech bands during the week and is an 80's and 90's themed nightclub at the weekend. The most impressive part is that most of the music has video accompaniment via a large screen at the back of the dance floor. The interior of Lucerna is very simple, but it is all about the atmosphere. The mostly-Czech crowd always ensure there is a great party mood. The large dance floor wraps right around the semi-circular stage, so it is cosy when bands are playing. Drink prices are very reasonable. There is Czech beer as well as a selection of spirits and cocktails. There are plenty of bars dotted around, as well as a VIP viewing area upstairs.
